Nic and I rejoiced at how smoothly our trip had gone. This clearly angered the gods of travel. As a result they sent all of their wrath to us yesterday. As I write this I am a little punch drunk and very tired, but very happy to be home.
We left Portland, Maine and headed to Chicago for a layover. We hopped on the plane for Colorado Springs to learn Denver had had a tornado and the airports were closed. We zoomed down to Albuquerque and hung out, to zoom back to CO Springs, to pop over to Denver. Here we found total chaos, misplaced luggage, missed shuttles and Nic and I sitting on the floor of the airport at 1:30a.m. debating which kid to call to rescue us.
In the end Jamie got the call and lo and behold he got us home at 3:30 this morning.
We are thankful to be home and in one piece. Thankful for our adventures in Maine.
I am quickly washing laundry, repacking and getting ready for my next adventure. This one IS a bucket list. It is an important trip to me. I have not been sure how to think about or write about it. Stay tuned. It's coming...
